Lotus Lantern Festival

I’m playing major catch up on my blog. On April 26th, we travelled to Seoul for the Lotus Lantern Festival, a festival that honors Buddha.  First we went to Dongguk University where there was a “Pep Fest”.  Well, it wasn’t very peppy.  To be fair I had imagined more of a carnival, but really it was just men and women singing songs and sitting still.  After we had experience enough of the pep fest we headed to our hostel in Dongdaemun and dropped our stuff off before the Lotus Lantern Festival Parade.  We (Me, Steve, Jon, Lisa) then went to a bar that had second story outdoor seating and had the perfect spot to watch the parade!  It was a beautiful night and the parade was very elegant with it’s quietness and hundreds of people carrying glowing lanterns.  Then we walked along the Cheonggyecheon stream that runs through Seoul.  There were also blow up sculptures that lit up and they were very pretty too.
